The sweetest Where The Wild Things Are quote has been made into a print by Dear Colleen on Etsy. I've talked about her work before [check it out here - it was a good post if I do say so myself! :) ] but I truly adore this new print - wouldn't it be sweet for a Valentine's Day gift or hung on the wall on the way out of an entry? Oh and did I mention that it's only 29 buckaroos? Sold.
I've been staving off a cold for a week now and the cold snap that has arrived (along with all the buckets of rain) hasn't helped me want to crawl out from under the covers anytime soon.
But enough with the whining! It's fall after all - beautiful leaves, fun things to do, cooler weather! - so I dug up a "Barney-ism" to give me a proper kick in the a$# for this Monday.
Goooood morning, poppets! Happy Monday! Did you have a good weekend? I did, but I'm pretty exhausted - who knew working seven days a week for several weeks in a row could be so utterly draining? (Wait, I did - that's why I've never done it before. Blerrgg. ;) )
Anyway, I did get to enjoy the beautiful weather on Saturday and am hoping to see a glimpse of it again this morning before the rain is supposed to roll back in. In the meantime, though, why don't we take a second to skim through these awesome thoughts from some wise guys (literally, wise men)?
Top quote by Ghandi (a wise man indeed), found here. Bottom quote unknown, but found here.
I have a bunch more coming today, so check back in a bit. Hope you have a good Monday!
Aren't these prints from LoV-E(aka Lorena Vigil-Escalera - ha, clever name to boot) beautiful? When I spotted her illustrations on design work life the other day, I immediately fell in love with the colors, patterns and style.
But they're not all froth and style, they've definitely got substance too. I only wish I could read some of the ones she's created in Spanish. If you can understand espanol or want to see more (or buy one for yourself), you can find them here.
Aren't these two sentiments/photos/quotes/thoughts so sweet? I couldn't not share them. The top idea is so true, oh and wait, so is the bottom. Right, B? ;)
I am in love with these gorgeous illustrative prints by Katie Lombardo, sold on her shop The Wheat Field on Etsy - especially the first one with the quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson.
They feel pretty appropriate with the beautiful, sunshine-y weather we're having (in MD, at least - I heard there's snow in the Midwest still??). There's a sale on at The Wheat Field right now and all large-format prints (13" x 19") are only $22! What a nice present for someone with a spring/summer birthday, or a great pick-me-up for someone who hasn't absorbed this sunshine just yet...
I was absent on Friday (I skipped school!) for the first weekday in a while since starting sea*life*style. Oops. Did you miss me? Please accept this apology bouquet: Photo via Design Crush
...but I am going to do my best to get back on track - I miss my little blogosphere!
I'm running out the door today, but will be back soon with all new stuff (hopefully by tomorrow morn!), so please come back soon!
xo, r.
p.s. We went to the Vampire Weekend concert Sat. and it was amazing! Was anyone else from the DC area there? It was awesome, right? Photo by Sabino on tumblr
It's ironic that I'm going back to my old workplace on April Fool's Day, no? I kind of feel like a fool, so that's appropriate. But I'm also glad for a bit of a change (though I only sort of brought on this change myself). Let's hope all goes well today and that this isn't just one big joke on me. (I wouldn't want to have to go all Carrie on their asses...)
p.s. I'll still be posting here, but the hours at which the posts go up might just vary a bit more. Please continue to stop by - I'd miss you all too much if you didn't!
Loving this quote (and so pretty in that script). I'm actually working right now, hence the late blog post. I'll be back later, but for now, I'm getting back to work!
Also, I'd be quite happy working here any day: I have that chair and a similar desk, but I seriously need to do some styling to get to that level of decorated-ness (though maybe minus the zebra-print rug!).
In the meantime, work it out (or make it work)! :)
Seeing as how I'm not in control of my blog right now - not to mention countless other things in my life - I thought this quote was apropos. And just kinda pretty. Gotta make the best of things!
These prints from dear colleen on etsy are so cheery, I've been clicking back to them periodically all morning for some quick pick-me-ups. Not only are the colors great, the sayings funny and cute, and the designs adorable, but all of the prints shown above are only $19 (and with some others in the shop at only $9.90)! That's my kind of art: fun and cheap (my kind of date too...).
We're going to a housewarming in a few weeks and I think that "home is where the heart is" print might be perfect. I also love the idea of giving a friend the "when life hands you lemons make a gin and tonic" print, along with the makings for a G&T. I know I'd like that kind of gift. ;)
On Saturday B and I were weighing our options of what we wanted to do that night and, after waffling several times on what was ultimately a completely non-important decision, I said, "okay, so what's the deal, dude?" to which B responded with, "I don't know, what's the dill, pickle?"
We both laughed for about five minutes after that (don't judge our third-grade senses of humor), and I seriously thought perhaps my boyfriend was a genius for coming up with that phrase on the sly.
Turns out he's not as creative as I thought: Organic t-shirt from Cafe Press
Designer Muro Buro is clearly picking up what I'm putting down...
I totally get this sentiment. Unfortunately, B doesn't feel this way, which explains his bewildered look as I'm straightening hanging prints on the wall as we're running out the door or folding towels to look pretty even though we're just going to use them. But sometimes you just want stuff to look nice, ya know?
And not to diminish it, but I've got some plans of my own for the rest of today, so I've got to run. Sorry to sign off a bit early, but sometimes you have to, in order to get some things done. Hope you have a great one today - and remember: tomorrow's Friday! xoxo, r.
We all love Fridays (and I love weekends even more so!), but I just realized that this past Friday was a bittersweet one, as it was Conan O'Brien's last show. I didn't get to see his finale, but evidently he was touching and poignant. Here is a quote from Coco's farewell speech; it sounds like it was lovely:
I know I slip into cynicism pretty easily, so in Conan's honor, starting today, in this new week, I'm going to try to be more cognisant of that and keep it in check a bit more. How about you? Are you a cynic like me? Are you going to miss Conan?
