w.i.p.
the shoppe is still updated at least once weekly, littleoddforest's facebook pages are still updated every other few days (or at least once weekly!), and every now then, if my attention span permits, i tweet updates and nonsense. these are just so much easier than blogging!! ha! you don't know what you're missing out if you're a littleoddforest shopper because i have started giving out quick updates and specials via those! ;) so anyhoo... too much going on as usual, exploding brain matter, brain pulp squeezed popped and sucked dry. i wouldn't even have the chance nor time nor inspiration to post this up if not for the gloomy weather that just ruined my plans to recuperate my creative juices at the pool. so... enough talk. some work in progress pics posted up in my flickr recently....
i might start using my own fabric designs for littleoddforest goods soon!! might. maybe. soon.

new 2010 collections in the works....

oh, and i somehow knew taking a picture of this will come in handy. i had to resort to doing plenty of this recently....

and some new designs in the shoppe! if you've been out of the loop ;p

and that's me with my normal relaxed facial muscles, the look that is so often misunderstood to be gangsta and fierce and haughty. like i have to be repeatedly reminded 3 times since last week. ha!! okie doke! i'm done with my kill all birds with one stone post! woooppee!! t.g.i.f!! happy weekend folks!! *muacks!

our starry rainbow pouch in a hollywood movie?
it's going to be florence's (greta gerwig) pouch, going to be totally her style.
do i read ben stiller in the release form?? scott rudin?? that's insane!!!
i didn't know they even request for permission for such small matters. they must need to send a bazillion requests out for every of such movie made.
it was really insane, for like, 2 hours or so.
died down once i received the formal request letter and faxed over the signed release form.
so, i know, it's just going to be 1 tiny weeny pouch in a gargantuan movie set.
friends who knew about it promised they'll squint to find the pouch once the movie is out, if it's going to be included in any frames for that matter.
fine.
hahahah
but still :)
so i had clean forgotten about it, what with all the truckload of work and my personal hoo-hah, until i read an email from meredith this evening, about her nephew working as a crew on the set of greenberg.
!!! insane!

broken records
i have broken a few records than i usually would have, since the beginning of this year (about 4 months)...
1 - haven't watched the telly for almost 3 months straight (last record was only 5 weeks).
2 - haven't been socializing regularly online for almost 3 months (last record was 1.5 months).
3 - have had to go out every single day for more than 2 months straight. not 1 day was spent indoors/home.
4 - credit cards refused to be charged even when i have funds to make payment. it was totally retarded when i had to withdraw a 4-digit sum of cash in $50s to pay for a furniture. i guess they were freaked out by my unusually high number of buys and total amounts charged in such a short period....
5 - busted my mobile phone bill for the very first time since i have been out and about, and had to use it for international calls and checking work online....
6 - haven't replied to personal emails for more than a month (unless that person poked me personally about it again)
7 - might have offended a few people because of no.6
8 - does not have time to care about no.7, for now...
9 - spaces out more than usual. my drinking buddies have decided i am getting too boring to hang out with, because i just space out.
10 - just wants to go and sleep. i almost never "just want to go and sleep". but i do now.
p.s.
we had a fantabulous fashbash last sat!! thanks to all our friends and regulars and so many other sweet peeps!!! it didn't look so good at first, what with the 35ºc heat index, and the late fashbash phenomenal queue etc. but it all turned out better than expected anyways in the end! :D will just be uploading some pictures to our flickr and facebook pages later... too much to type and too busy to do so!!
ciao for now! muacks!

preparing for our friday dark movie night
thank you, bust, for reminding me how wonderful carol channing was. da bomb! she's da bomb!
she must have scared the shit out of natalie gregory (the 'alice' child actress) here.... i would have been.. talk about childhood trauma... dang.
which brings me to another good shit. return to oz (1985), which i very much preferred to the innocently happy good-sy wizard of oz (1939). this was one of my favorite scenes.... heads!!! back in the days, i would go running around the house and scaring the shit out of my domestic helper (i'm being so politically correct...) shouting my lungs out "heads!!!! heads!!!!!" after watching this...
we weren't allowed to embed this good one, so click on to view...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3XVuXuIw-UU
and the one we have decided upon for our friday night party is the scary czech alice version - Neco z Alenky (1988)....
i bought some super duper awesome retro popcorn bags from this very cool etsy shop, am using them for some other purposes, but i guess i can spare 5 for tomorrow night :D

working from home is good.
you know how sometimes people like to make baseless negative assumptions..
like how people who wear glasses can't afford to get contacts or lasik
or how how all slender girls have eating disorders
so one of which is, working from home means that your label isn't doing that great.
year after year, during some must-go-to-very-mundane-gatherings, i have to entertain stupid comments like "oh, you mean you are still working from home after all these years?"
while i snigger away privately as i pocket the $4000++ rental i would have spent on rent.
money aside, here are 10 great things about working from home:
taken from apartment therapy
1. Taking a Bath at Lunchtime (or a dip in the pool!)
2. Raiding the Fridge whenever I want (heck, i can work right beside the fridge if i want to)
3. Being able to hit up Trader Joes or Target in the middle of the day (mid-day shopping and movie dates! when i'm not so busy of course....)
4. Working in Pajamas (i can't work in my pajamas, don't ask why, i have to shower and at least wear something decently good enough for me to step out of the house the very next minute, so i've never done this before...)
5. Not commuting anywhere, especially in the rain (yes!)
6. Making lunch at home and being able to put a roast in the oven in time to eat before 10pm
(i can make my spicy korean noodles, kimchi, and roast pork for lunch!)
7. Making a mid day Yoga class (i don't yoga, but i do plenty of late-lunch dates!)
8. Getting to be alone for the day in semi stillness and not coming home ragged and exhausted (i can choose to stop work at 4pm and resume at 12 midnight... muahahaha)
9. Getting to play whatever music I want (as loud as i want to! that is, unless my part-timers and interns are right beside me and i have to "behave" like a "boss" :p)
10. Getting to hang out with my kitty (anyone or anything i choose to!)
so much for short breather... back to my busy-ness...

work like an ox.
well, ok, not exactly. ha.
we are back at work here in littleoddforest! all outstanding orders have been promptly shipped out this morning as promised and all outstanding order-related emails will be replied to by this weekend! shelly will be keeping you updated weekly, as usual, starting next week.
not full steam ahead, yet. it's only the 5th day of the 15 days of reunions, feasting, gatherings, visitations and more! but very soon yah, let us make merry for a little bit more while our friends abroad make their annual trip back to become "chinese" singaporeans again, only for a few precious days!

i don't like to be tied down, doing craft-related work whilst on holiday or on a break, so thankfully, had the foresight to make as many of our brand new peppywanders design - a figure of speech pin brooches and hair clips - as i could, before the chinese new year break. i can't thank you all enough for showing your support for these! thank youuuu! :D i'm quite surprised, and super happy! surprised also because there are more orders for those words and fonts that i have picked to make, than for custom ones = lesser work and headache for me ;p
for those looking for something else, but are too passive to email me to ask for them, i guess i'll be making some new variations later on, once i can! have also taken a few new rush shots of me wearing the hair clips at the very last minute, and will be uploading them as soon as we can - we have received quite a number of emails asking for model shots for size/proportions comparisions... i do apologise for stretching your visualization skills ;p
a brand new design from our new collection will be launched next week in the shoppe too, finally! as we charge ahead to complete some new wholesale orders for our stockists for spring! :D so do keep surfing by to the shoppe, i sure hope you'll like them!
have a lovely weekend, folks! it's going to be another crazy crazy weekend of gatherings, feasting and boozing for us! this will be my last year of collecting red packets, albeit embarrassingly, so i have to enjoy it while i still can... wahahaha.. muacks!

i have never related more to any post i have read online than this one, i think (or close enough maybe, ok, not that i read a-lot online, but still...)
http://decor8blog.com/travel/decorating-on-a-budget
well-written, honest (and yet not overly personal and rubbing off wrongly), smart (and yet stylish) decisions made. i'm inspired, holly :)

if i am super rich...
i will blow a cool half a million singapore dollars on a gorgeous Cranchi Atlantique 40 and spend 4,000 monthly on docking fees alone.

dreams...
i have been so so good at doing nothing-ness, and the weather and perfect clear skies were too good to be true for my little getaway last week... looking forward to the new year eve's party and get-together, and yet another sunny salty sea paradise rendezvous before the new year's work begins :)
and as of now, i have 587 personal pics and 231 new product pics.... waiting to be edited........

a good lame one to add on!
okie! this is a quickie! in the middle of updating inventory but i can't help but share this with you
(hwee yee! yours is hilarious! a few pieces of cloth sewn together!!!!! hahahaha!!!! *faints*)
was yakking on the phone this morning with my sculpture artist friend, and he wants to chip in his story too!
he did a series of wooden sculptures for a collective art exhibition, all pieces were for sale
seemingly serious buyer comments
"why would anyone in their right mind pay so much for only a block of wood?"
friend replies earnestly
"well, how about i add on a few more pieces of ply wood for you?"
seemingly serious buyer looks shocked and couldn't move for a few seconds.
HAHAHAHHA!!!!!!!
more later! busy busy now!! xoxoxo

yes, mister mushnik
i just received the most wonderful heartfelt gift from a long-time friend who decided to fly 30 hours to have a rendezvous with me. well, ok fine. he was on his way to his overseas job posting, but still..... :p
remember how we used to give each other mixed tapes? well, i got a set of mixed dvds.. of all my favorite childhood/teen years cartoons, sitcoms and movies, and my favorite openings... this has to be one of the bestest gifts i've received this year!? yeah!... all the time and effort that went into making them! i was so touched that i almost teared up, and i rarely/almost never do.. i think i must have missed him a lot. still do! we hung out only for 1 whole day before i had to leave... :( i really really miss being around good ol' friends who know my life stories and the real me, and vice versa... not acquaintances.. not "fake" friends... not "go out and have fun" friends.. not "let's meet for dinner and talk crap, but really, i hardly know you" friends, but real real normal and special friends who really care and share...
this is one of my favorite songs, i used to love banging out this tune (my mum calls it banging, because she says i put in too much passion/strength/agility, but i think this songs requires that..) on the piano whenever i felt melancholic
and to end off on a chirpier note...
i went to dance class as a kid, and we pranced around to this fab tune all the time! :D love it love it miss it... you must play this song out loud and do the booty dance!!!
and i can't wait for my belated 6 years anniversary gift from b.. :DD time flies by just like that..

keep your eyes peeled!
i'm "almost" back! almost!
i will reply all outstanding emails by this wednesday, and everything else will follow up then!
also, the new designs that were launched exclusively at isetan scotts will be available for preview online earliest by tonight, or else (if i can't rush them out in time...) by tomorrow, tuesday!
and stock should be listed in the shoppe sometime around then too!! wooppeee!!! finally, yes? ;p
and and, a huge thank you to all who have shown us such love and support the past 2 weeks during our little celebration counter over at isetan! the delightful response was a pleasant surprise that went above our humble expectations, so yes, a very big grateful and appreciative thank you!! i hope to get the "pay-cheque" from isetan soon! heeee :D and to wendy and maya, thank you gals for being super awesome. you were precious gifts to me, really! i will see you both again soon yah! ;)
too many events the past few months, too many within the past 2 weeks, and too too many the past few days! right up till yesterday, and including today!!! boo. last minute customer viewing sessions, family dinners, funerals, weddings, birthday parties, meetings, conferences and what have yous... the sleep i had envisioned after thursday did not materialise at all. i scored an average of 4 hours sleep for the past few nights since thursday (the last day of our isetan promotion), because of the number of personal matters we had to attend to. right now, i have already been awake for the past 3 hours plus, after only 3.5 hours of sleep *yawns*.... our packing was delayed and took longer than anticipated, again.... so i had to wake up extra early and finish it up by myself... double boooo... :( nasty paper-cuts galore.... the corrugated boxes are wicked!!! so good-bye to the pretty manicure we all did for eve and fai's wedding on saturday, speaking of which, was pretty fun! albeit the 4 hours of sleep prior since the "sisters" had to be at the hotel by 6am... sorry for side-tracking.. anyhoo... i have to clean up the packing mess before a customer comes in later...
moving on! new things galore, making their way slowly but surely to the shoppe!!! sneak previews will always be available via our facebook group/ fan and flickr pages!
and you know how i always lug my camera around, but almost always never remember/ be bothered enough to whip it out to use it? :p well, i did remember to this time, all by myself! no "ahems", "pokings" and "friendly reminders" by camera whores...lol!
thank you, dolly!!! (she was the awesome gal who donated to me the huge bags of vintage fabrics!!!)

pardon the shorts... it was the last day and around 8pm, when we had to start packing up.
okiedok. i need my coffee... i hope to be "back online".. by next week!.. maybe? we'll see.. pleasant or not, something crazy always seem to be popping up unexpectedly nowadays...
oh! sorry, my brain is functioning in patches nowadays... :p this made my early morning much better than it was before!!!!
i love the snorks!! b and i stumbled onto a row of snorks figures after our lunch at china square central yesterday and it was an awesome trip down memory lane. my cousins and i could sing the opening song too.... haha! and we had the snorks figures.. which were donated to the orphanages by my mum, who had decided i had too much toys and junk. if only she knew how much i could get now, off-loading all those toys she threw out before. ha! i guess at least they were donated and not thrown away.... ok, bye now for reals~ xoxo
i will reply all outstanding emails by this wednesday, and everything else will follow up then!
also, the new designs that were launched exclusively at isetan scotts will be available for preview online earliest by tonight, or else (if i can't rush them out in time...) by tomorrow, tuesday!
and stock should be listed in the shoppe sometime around then too!! wooppeee!!! finally, yes? ;p
and and, a huge thank you to all who have shown us such love and support the past 2 weeks during our little celebration counter over at isetan! the delightful response was a pleasant surprise that went above our humble expectations, so yes, a very big grateful and appreciative thank you!! i hope to get the "pay-cheque" from isetan soon! heeee :D and to wendy and maya, thank you gals for being super awesome. you were precious gifts to me, really! i will see you both again soon yah! ;)
too many events the past few months, too many within the past 2 weeks, and too too many the past few days! right up till yesterday, and including today!!! boo. last minute customer viewing sessions, family dinners, funerals, weddings, birthday parties, meetings, conferences and what have yous... the sleep i had envisioned after thursday did not materialise at all. i scored an average of 4 hours sleep for the past few nights since thursday (the last day of our isetan promotion), because of the number of personal matters we had to attend to. right now, i have already been awake for the past 3 hours plus, after only 3.5 hours of sleep *yawns*.... our packing was delayed and took longer than anticipated, again.... so i had to wake up extra early and finish it up by myself... double boooo...
:p this made my early morning much better than it was before!!!!

what will you do?
when you have many friends demanding your attention and time and space
and then when you spend time with one group, you risk incurring the wrath of the other
and then when you spend time with the other, you make another unhappy with you
can you please everyone? i'm trying, but it's so hard. i am not good at this at all.
then you attempt to make them all hang out together.
but to many, this is not an option.
they prefer being with people who already know them so well, because they just want to be comfortable, instead of being accommodating. they want to talk personal crap, but would rather not do it in front of someone they don't know at all. they want to be themselves, instead of being nice. they are contented with their friends and people they already know, and have no desire of expanding their social circle. they feel that their time is too precious to spend on people whom they do not know well, and are not bothered or concerned with.
so very not easy-going! wassup!!!??! is the hot weather getting to everyone's moods, temperament, likes and dislikes???
so, that pretty much sums up july and august so far. super tiring. and terribly lame. the silly social games i have to play.
i am not hanging out with anyone this entire week. not one soul. well, maybe one or two. but that's it. my mind needs peace and quiet for a while. i think i deserve at least that.
oh, before ending off.... thank you all so very much for all your sweet wishes! long emails! text messages! phone calls! look out for more sweet birthday news all the way til october! :D

thank you for being a friend...
yes, i'm so behind on everything, though mostly just email replies and blog posts... ha!

exploding brain matter.... i've been super busy, flying from one thing to another, flying from one project to another, meetings, researching, scouting, too many plans at hand, things i'm not familiar with (big kisses and thanks to b, for helping me talk through my pages of messy plans and reports), reading (i don't get people who don't read!! books are fountains of knowledge!! or read junk. which renders reading useless.) the new collection, and more tricky problems, i even had to hold off my urgent trip to the workshop to settle some matters.... so i apologise from the bottom of my heart if my email liaises with you suddenly got cut off the past couple of weeks or so. ooppss!!! sorry!!!!! today was the one and only day that my mind is partially cleared, for the past couple of weeks or so. it could just fill up by the end of sunday, again.
and yes, littleoddforest didn't win! so don't be too hot and bothered about it, if you still are :p {{ poke }} i love you all and you have been kick-ass friends. the awesome customer emails i've been getting! thank you all so very much!! :D but i'll have you know that i went ahead with whatever big plans i had and had already gotten the new machine way before the results were announced. but a resounding yes, still! because one of my favorites whom i was rooting for (besides myself), won!!! congrats to i'm your present for being nbt 2008's final winner!! :D i'm so getting one of her cute outfits for myself as soon as she has restocked!
and the main point that got me logging in to type out a post, is because the world has lost sophia (estelle getty) .... :( i grew up with the golden girls, yes, i grew up watching funny frisky feisty old women, as a little kiddo. every sunday night, i think? can't remember. the golden girls rawk. layne, meredith, and i, used to have a golden girls bedtime party back in college in chicago, in my apt, i was the only one with cable, and on the lifetime channel, they showed like, 24 freaking hours of golden girls episodes. back to back. they didn't even have that many ads. i mean, in the first place, it would be pretty hard to sell ad spaces on that kind of tv channel...lol. at first no one wanted to admit they loved the golden girls, until we discovered each other's mutual closet (no longer closet i guess) love for them, and so the party was set! with chinese food delivery (round the corner from my apt was THE BEST zhi-char ever!! way better than the sub-standard ones we have now in singapore food-courts) and other junk stuff of course. and when the wine started kicking in, we started singing along...
yes, go ahead and judge us. ha!
and then it escalated to include law & order repeats, which was also shown on that channel, when casey found out about our secret party. he was a weird one, he loved quoting stuff he learnt from that tv show in our political thought class, which was a pretty darn serious debate class. and he liked to end off his little thing with "oh, i learnt that from observing xxxxx from watching law & order..." yikes!!!! hahahaha
there were so many things i wanted to share with you, but as i type this sentence out, my mind is starting to fill in by itself again. so soon. it's like automated land-reclamation... i've just thought of something to include in my plans. gotta go write it out now.. ciao for now, cute peeps. it's the weekend!!! go outside! laugh, play, and be merry! muacks!
p.s.!!!
i've edited the job posting below! it's still open!! thanks for the ton of "hire me please!" emails so far!!
p.p.s.s.!!!
i managed to slip in a couple of new bags in the shoppe a couple of days ago! i know many items are sold out now, but fret not!! the shoppe will be restocked very soon!!!

too eventful
even for hyper people like us. these couple of months.
- i had 3 different groups of friends who flew into singapore and i played tour guide 3x. fun the first time, okay the second time, just whatever for the third time.

if you're getting this book for your visiting friends, be warned. it will fall apart. i think i definitely did a way much better hand-binding job at school... sheesh
- we had to rush and fly off to our respective "work country" to fix some problems :S and i most probably have to go again very soon....
- we got our car! and still busy furnishing it! cleaning it! washing it! crazy.
first casualty is the wheel rim. got seriously scratched when we drove into leanne's condo carpark... who the fuck puts a 2" tall metal bar in the middle that is at the blind spot!???! partly the security guards's fault too for the distraction. what's up with all the mean condo security guards! i was so hot-headed last week that i actually quarreled with the one at my mum's. crazy people. mr. b couldn't get over his de-valued precious wheel rim for 1 whole day. he used his bare fingernails to scrap off the paint from that stupid metal bar that has gotten onto his new shiny rim, and spoilt his own nails. silly poor thing. but latest highlight is that we just got the not very chio (pretty) chrome part on the front painted black! just last night! so mr. b is more or less happier than before. a fierce looking car for a young man, he says. is better. no comment. ha!
- we both had family problems to deal with and resolve
- elsie is leaving lof soon :( and we are rushing to find and train someone new, hopefully 2 peeps. sigh.
- got a new assistant, nori, for belle, who is my main assistant in the philippines. a help for a help. awesome.
- i had (still having) major customs problems with a certain region
- another separate customs-related problem, one of lof's largest buyer/stockist is major pissed with her country's customs and may not want to order from us again, so now i'm pissed at her customs too!!!!
- a new bulk custom order that has been dragging the longest time, is dragging even longer than before, and driving me nuts, especially since i had specially hired a part-time sewer here to help out with this order and now she is generally pissed. singaporeans are generally all about $, efficiency, being quick, and bloody impatient. so if you're going to drag.... sigh. being generally pissed is not good, because she is now basically like a machine gun, no fixed target, just sweep and shoot at sight. that includes shooting at me. le sigh.
- many many events and places to go see and to visit, also since i had to bring people around

- many gifts and pressies for dada! :D my absolute new favorite thing now is my atsuko matano hankie. lovely lovely! personally bought from japan! you should check out her illustration works in her lovely website!

- and many other things.... that my over-crowded mind can't think of right now. so this brings us to the end, which is this:

if you work way too hard, don't have a life, don't have weekends off, don't go out with friends, don't go to places enough, have nothing else to talk about other than work and your family, and more of such things, this book is guaranteed to make you feel like an absolute loser with a capital L. it was such a crazy fun read!!!!! so crazy that someone has borrowed it from me, scanned and printed 2 pages to pin on his colleagues' board, as a huge hint. more like a wake-up smack i think. mister meany. tsk. but you should go get it though! it's entertaining, sarcastic, fun-poking humor. life is too short to be so serious all the time. we should all learn to laugh at ourselves more often. and chill!
xoxoxo!
pssssttt... new goodies in the shop and more on the way! almost done with another order! :D
