I had fully planned to do another post this evening, but with the rain still coming down, the sky all dreary and dark, and our house warm and cozy, I must admit that I'm already wearing my PJs and pretty much hunkered down for the night. But, I will be back in the morning (hopefully a sunnier one at that!) with fresh new posts. See you then?

Kobi Levi: Art with Shoes

A graduate from Bezalel Academy of Art & Design, Jerusalem, Kobi Levi crafts unusual designs for his shoes, each one of which is hand-made in his studio.

His recent collection is bizzare, but with a lot of creativity flowing into it, and they sure are interesting. Kobi says, "I see these shoes as wearable sculptures. It is important to me that they will be real shoes and not sculptures or toys".

The design below is a chewing gum shoes, Kobi says "With ‘chewing gum’ I wanted to capture a frozen moment in everyday life - so a high heel shoe was born by creating a sneaker that looked like it had stepped on chewing gum."

Born in Israel, Kobi Levi has his own workshop where he creates his fantastic shoes. His designs absolutely wearable though they seem to be like ones you will never be able to walk in.

Regina 38

This fantastic cruising boat is powered by a Yanmar 4JJ4 4-cylinder 56hp diesel engine. It is an ideal boat made for cruisers who will spend a lot of time in higher latitudes where there is plenty of wind.

Whether you are planning to cross the North Sea or just cruise around your local coast the Regina 38 is an ideal boat made for all voyages.

In Praise of Campy Gore

I love horror films. I love campy, gory horror films even better. I love the silly special effects that still make you halfway cringe. I love the creepy, yet super-fake makeup. And of course the faux gore!!!

One of the finest horror films ever made is Evil Dead. What could top a horror film set in the woods of Michigan with a cast playing students from my alma mater, Michigan State University? Why, Evil Dead: The Musical, of course!!!

Splattered!

Over two hours of delightfully gory, madcap adventure as the main character, Ash, fights off his demon friends in an old cabin in the woods. We had the pleasure of sitting in the second row "Splatter Zone" and left covered in, well, splatter. Plenty of gore to amuse and entertain, an awesome cast and some catchy tunes you'll be singing all the way home, including "What the F@&$ Was That?" and "Ode to an Accidental Stabbing."

I've got to say, it was a rare treat and one not to be missed. If you live in the Detroit area and are a fan of the film, this is a must see! It is playing at the City Theater downtown through October 31.
