Go Eco-Friendly this Diwali!

Diwali is that time of the year when families throw a bash, and celebrate the victory of good over evil. Unfortunately, due to lack of supervision and vigilance Diwali for some becomes a tragic memory.

According to a study conducted by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) 96 percent of four major brands of fireworks violated noise and air pollution norms. The noxious pollutants such as nitrogen dioxide, sulphur dioxide and respirable suspended particulate matter apart from smoke can aggravate asthma, bronchitis and other respiratory problems.

However, if you follow certain guidelines, you would not dread Diwali. Read and find out how.

New family member...

Yes, you heard right, we have a new family member here at the Vintage Lifestyle house...

Let's hear a big welcome for Sunny, our new little girl Border Collie. She is just 8 weeks old and is so precious! She is a wonderful little character and has a super personality!

She looks like a fox and sometimes like a fawn. She is very delicate boned with a tiny little head and a button nose...

She cries when its dark or when seeing something new and scary but is getting more brave with each passing day...

She falls alseep at the drop of hat, just like a baby, no matter where she is...

Jet is really not very keen at all with this young upstart.

She pulls his tail and bites his ears and Jet does not understand why she is allowed to misbehave (something he would NEVER do).

We have made sure that Jet knows he is still as loved as he always has been...and always will be.

I'm off for a cuddle....

Color My Office

Whew what a weekend...it was a blast! A vampiress, iron man, and superman occupied our house until my sweet little faces returned last night after the candy baskets were full. I have eaten more mini Twix and Snickers than I care to share but oh so good! In the middle of all the festivities my sweet Mr. bought me a very much needed new computer, yay, early Santa! Now if I can figure out how to use it, life will be grand...
Tomorrow I will be dishing on one of my favorite interiors over on the lovely blog of Canadian Interior Designer Staci Edwards. Staci always has great tips on entertaining, traveling, design, and life inspiration in general. I am so excited for Staci to have me and look for her post with Thanksgiving tips on Life of Style in the coming weeks!

New Gadget

I rarely get excited when a new gadget is released. I have a blackberry and computer of course, but that's because I need to be able to run my business. I love to read and after getting numerous recommendations from friends who love their Kindles, I finally purchased one. I have to say - it's a great gadget. It's organized, light and easy to take with me wherever I go. I also love the convenience of downloading my books and magazines instantly. Now I'll have the fun of finding a case for it!

Proper Attire for Election Day

As with anything these days, there is a proper way to dress when you go to vote on Tuesday, November 2. But, the style of dress is not necessarily the same in various regions of the country.

For instance, if you're voting for Charlie Crist in Florida, the proper attire may be a pullover shirt that says across the front "It's all about me". If you're voting for Kendrick Meek, you could wear a shirt that has an arrow pointing at the guy next to you that is wearing the "all about me" shirt and have your shirt say "I'm with stupid".

In California, you would wear a shirt that says "ma'am" if you're voting for Barbara Boxer.

In Michigan....never mind, you're just happy to be dressed at all.

In Connecticut, the proper attire is the WWE logo on your shirt.

And of course in Texas, New Mexico and Arizona, the proper attire to wear to the voting booth is a blue windbreaker with ICE written on the back. Just a word of caution if you're in the southwest wearing an ICE jacket. Make sure you're agile enough to move out of the way when a hoard of illegal alien invaders begin to make a mass exodus from the building.

Whatever you do, however you dress, just make sure that you go out and vote!

You're welcome to comment.
