Emergency Relaxation Bath Salts

So here is the scenario. You've just gotten home from work to find that you never turned the crock pot on for dinner. The kids - and their bedroom - are covered in magic marker (where was the sitter when this happened?). The dog has killed a skunk and left it on the back porch. You just received a notice that the car payment bounced. And your better half  is working late.

It's the kind of night you declare ice cream for dinner, stick the kids in bed without brushing their teeth - Crayola cat whiskers and all - and slip into the tub to swiftly wash the day away.

These quick, easy lavender bath salts can be made in seconds flat, for when some emergency relaxation calls.

3/4 cup Epsom Salts
1/4 cup Sea Salt
7-10 drops Lavender Essential Oil

Combine all ingredients in a small bowl with a spoon. Run a nice warm bath and hop in. Pour the entire contents of the bowl into the tub and swish around until dissolved. Breathe. Relax.

Epsom Salts are wonderful for relieving muscle tension and physical stress. They are also quite lovely for clearing emotional or energetic issues. Lavender is also known for its relaxing, anti-anxiety properties.

One thing to note: bath salts can sometimes be drying to the skin, so be sure to use body oil and/or lotion after your bath. I also don't recommend bath salts for children for the same reason - their delicate skin dries easily.

Happy relaxing!
